Dalat is a city located in the South Central Highlands of Vietnam. Thanks to this favorable geographical position, Dalat has pleasant climate which makes it warm by day and slightly cold at night, down to around 10 Celsius degree.
In addition to lovely weather, people fall in love with Dalat for its mesmerizing beauty and silently charming atmosphere. Surrounded by pine forests, the city gracefully lies in the heart of a rich valley which gives people here advantages to grow vegetables, coffees, fruits etc being known around the country for their good taste. Good climate enables many different kinds of flowers to blossom around the lovely city which makes it even more romantic.
Dating back to the past, Dalat used to be the playground of French when they colonized Vietnam in the 20th century. Therefore, in Dalat remain a lot of villas, hotels, restaurants and other architectural works by French which beautify the romantic essence of this town.

With all the precious gifts from Mother Nature, Dalat is an ideal place for family holiday vacation, company outings and especially honeymoon for just-marrieds.
Dalat offers various options of places and activities to do here for visitors. If you have an interest in History, it is a good ideas to visit Bao Dai Summer Palace located 2,5km south from the heart of the city. This villa was built as a retreating place of Bao Dai – the last king of Vietnam. Another architectural work worth paying a visit in Dalat is Domaine de Marie Church in Dalat. Also called as Mai Anh Church or Cherry Church, this place is a typical example of cultural conjunction of Vietnam and France. From the city center, tourists can take a taxi to Ngo Quyen Str and walk up to the hill to see this church.
Coming back to the romantic beauty of Dalat, visitors can not miss Ho Xuan Huong lake lying right in the heart of this city. This lake is a main draw in Dalat with many couples, group of tourists, friends strolling around its banks every afternoon. The surface of the lake is like a mirror reflecting shapes of pine trees nearby. Not too far away from Ho Xuan Huong is Flower Park where visitors can enjoy the most various collections of flower in this entire country. You will find hundreds kinds of blossoms such as roses, mimosas, pansees, etc. If you have a luck to visit this garden in the festival season, in around December and January, it can be even more impressive which will make you lost in the Kingdom of Flowers.
If you are a “romance-aholic”, the Valley of Love in Dalat is something that should not be missed. Throughout time, this place has been the most picturesque and poetic sites in Dalat – little Paris. Lying inside a pine forest, the valley brings visitors a feeling of tranquility that is hard to find in other tourist destinations. For explorers who enjoy a view of the city from above, Lang Biang mountain would be an ideal spot. The mountain is 1,900 meter high and can be reached by walking path which takes 2 hours to hike or 40 minutes by hired jeeps.

Best time to visit
Having such stable weather around the year, Dalat can be enjoyed anytime. Like all mountainous regions in the South of Vietnam, Dalat has only 2 main seasons: dry and wet one. It would be slightly better to pay a visit in the dry season from November to March. In this period of time, it is very clean and comfortable so that travellers can enjoy Dalat to the fullest. Moreover, in this time of the year there is a flower festival with exhibition of flowers from the whole country to be admired.

How to get to Dalat?
By plane: There are daily flights from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Vinh, Hue to Lien Khuong International Airport in Dalat served by Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Jetstar Pacific. From the airport to city center is a 30-kilometer distance which can be done by taxi. Some hotels would offer arrangement for taxi from the airport at the price of 200.000 dongs. Another option is using shuttle buses which cost only 40.000 dongs.
By bus: most locals and foreign travellers get to Dalat by bus served by Phuong Trang, Mai Linh express running several daily turns from Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City. From Nha Trang, now it takes only 3-4 hours on bus instead of 5 hours thanks to new road cut. From Ho Chi Minh City, the journey would last for 7-9 hours depending on the traffic situation when leaving the city center. The bus fee is not too high, ranging from 200.000-300.000 dongs.
Getting around in Dalat: Depending on where you stay and your agenda, you can choose the suitable vehicles. “Xe-om” is very available in every corner of the city, yet remember to ask the price before getting on the bike. Taxis are also abundant with reasonable price as long as you pay attention to the watch in the head of every car. There are many places to rent a motorbike at cheap price for anyone who wants to freely going around to town and enjoy fresh air of this beautiful city.
